New Technology in Cars – What We Can Look Forward to in 2010

The technology used in cars has greatly changed over time. Car technology upgrades enhance the safety comfort levels of car owners. So, every year, new car models come with (sometimes pricey) upgrades. 2010 is no exception. Here are some of the new car upgrades we can look forward to in the next few months.

GPS devices have been on the market for some time. But now they come with almost every new car. The wonderful thing about global navigation systems is that you just enter your destination and you are guided there by voice and visual directions.

Because gas prices are at an all time high, fuel economy is a concern for many drivers. New technology allows the car to switch off non-essential systems like the air conditioning in cooler times automatically.

Air bags have become standard safety features. But, new curtain air bags help to reduce head injury for people in both front and back seats. These devices come standard on many high end cars and are an option in some mid-price range vehicles.

Just like the “black boxes” in airliners, event data recorders can show proof of driving speed, the location of the car and other details. This feature is most useful for things like car insurance claims and legal issues related to accidents.

Many hybrid cars now feature run flat tires. This means that you can drive for up to 50 miles with no air pressure. This gives drivers the chance to get to the tire shop without having to pull over to the side of the road and change a tire.

There are so many advanced car technologies. And, we haven’t seen the end of what’s coming. In fact, cars that park themselves aren’t all that far away ad even a car without a driver is on the drawing boards!

The new technology in cars has increased at an amazing speed. Cars are now more comfortable and safer than ever before.
